Frozen 2

After six years, Frozen 2 has arrived in cinemas. This new Disney animated feature film is not only visual and auditory treat, but it also talks about neocolonialism and the ill effects of "developmental projects" in the domain of the Indigenous Peoples.

Frozen 2 is about Elsa's discovery of the origin of her magical powers and the coming to terms with Elsa and Anna's family history and legacy.

Olaf, the comedic relief and at the same time the most sensible character, shares a bunch of foolish theories that would later make sense as the film progresses. "Water has memory" is one of his notable theories. Water plays an important element in the film because it presents the story of the past. Elsa's ice power complements well with this theory.

Frozen 2 is an adult story clothed in a child fantasy animated film. As expected, it has the Disney happy-ending-style that would make you anticipate its third installment. If the problems experienced by most of the Indigenous Peoples around the world would be resolved in a Disney-like fashion, it would not take more than a generation to correct the sins of the past.

PS: Frozen 2 can also be looked at in a Queer lens since Elsa has an intriguing love interest and LGBTQ+ sentiments 😁
